Can Windows Turn Itself on Backup and Turn Off Again
PC automatically turns itself dorsum on afterwards shutdown
Strange one this folks... When I shutdown my PC it automatically powers itself dorsum on after effectually 5 seconds, full power on, HDD, fan etc and starts loading my Os.
Even so, when the PC has booted back upwards and when I do a hard power off past belongings the power button downwards for vi seconds the PC turns off and stays off.
Tried the BIOS and in that location's cipher in there enabled like boot on lan etc.
Anything anyone has ever experienced?
:)

I've seen that earlier...not sure if it is exactly what you're getting, but the power button was stuck in. Or rather, the inside switch behind the push push.

Effort issuing a shutdown /p from the command prompt as an administrator. Does the power kick back on?

Go into BIOS and change your power settings to " Remain off afterwards ability failure" in the Power Management section.
Optionally, switch from S3 to S1 power mode in BIOS or reverse.

Strange, I attempted to put it on Ubuntu's equivilent of Sleep manner and over again, it went to sleep, 5 seconds later its like someone clicked the mouse or hitting the render key and it awoke over again.
I did take off the front end panel and the symptoms were the same, i didn't however bank check the inside switch.
I'll also cheque my USB devices indivudually.
Cheers guys.

I've seen PCs do this if the power button has a contact shorted too.

...not sure if it is exactly what yous're getting, but the ability push button was stuck in....
Had one of those, where a smidgen of WD-twoscore in the plastic switch solved the issue.
As with Rick4, hard to say if that indeed is the effect & resolution path.

An easy way to find out is open the case, disconnect the button from the mobo, and perform the shutdown. If it boots back upwardly, information technology isn't the switch.

Forgive my burst, but we're just doing some guesswork.
If Es Bee was a little bit more specific , information technology would surely can narrow down the problem .
Unremarkably in these cases, reference is made to the BIOS settings.
If this is non possible , take you always thought to turn off the power ?

May not be relevant here but I had a car which had a dodgy driver which would bluescreen the PC during shutdown. It would stay off for about 5-10 seconds and and so boot upward again.
From what I remember I think information technology was an outdated chipset driver which didn't like a certain graphics driver.

I Think the problem is come out from motherboard probably in chipset mainboard northbridge. Why, considering every setting in BIOS and other thing merely USB Wireless mouse has been plug out we already washed it and that problem still come out or the problem is not gone.

I had this happen, was a power problem, sometimes the PC merely would not turn on, and then when it was information technology would restart if you lot told information technology to shutdown. I changed the PSU took out ram etc leaving the bare basics in and it still happened, I think it was a bad earth shorting information technology from the mobo screws (underneath), works at present though since I took it apart and put it back together.

remove all usb devices except mouse and keyboard
a) boot from a Linux live disk, and so try shutting downward...
- if it fails to shutdown so hardware fault is probable. get hardware repaired
- if it shuts down and so it looks like a windows software fault
b) if windows software fault
boot to safe mode and shutdown
if OK then fault with driver or installed software,
- end all services and startup items and restart and shutdown adding a new item each time until it fails then uninstall offending item
if not ok
- could still be software or commuter just will probably demand a windows rebuild.

Its running Ubunto 12.04 at present, however before that it was running XP Professional person (SP3) and it was doing it then aswell so don't think its a service or virus/malware problem.
I tried swapping out the USB devices (just mouse & keyboard - everything else unplugged), then took out an unused PCI Serial port carte du jour, nothing, aforementioned problems. I've got a 'new' PSU to try and a new power lead. Failing that, i've as well got to try and plug it directly into the mains to come across if that makes a difference instead of an over loaded extension lead. Failing that, so i'll strip and rebuild.
I'll post my findings this weekend!
Cheers,
Es Bee.

Is this a custom PC or consumer system? Some Lenovos and Dells, have a "Remember last ability land" option nether ability management in the BIOS. Yous might attempt disabling this if you have it.

Go into BIOS and change your power settings to " Remain off afterwards ability failure" in the Power Direction section.
Optionally, switch from S3 to S1 ability mode in BIOS or reverse.
Fool around with power options until y'all discover a setting that works.

Glad to hear. I concluded upwards only changing the motherboard from an old unused device and that solved the issue. Possibily the battery on mine aswell - wish i tried that starting time!

Good to hear the consequence is resolved. From my feel, when a system powers back on after total shut-off, it has been due to one of the following things:
one. Faulty PGS (Power Proficient Signal)
2. Power supply malfunctioning
3. Power management setting(s) in BIOS and/or operating organisation
4. Loose components (CPU, I/C, Graphics Adapter, etc.) on motherboard
Check # 4 by disconnecting / removing processor, expansions carte du jour, cables, ability fully then reinstalling. Cheque BIOS I/C to make certain it is firmly seated.
For #3, reset BIOS per the motherboard manufacturer'due south instructions.
