The 2d season of the American television serial Superstore was ordered on February 23, 2016.[1] On May 15, 2016, NBC announced that Superstore would be moving to Thursdays in the 8 p.m. time slot, leading off NBC's Th night primetime programming in the 2016–17 season.[2] The flavour premiered on September 22, 2016, and ended on May 4, 2017.[2] On September 23, 2016, NBC gave the series a total season society of 21 episodes.[3]

Superstore follows a grouping of employees working at Cloud 9, a fictional large-box store in St. Louis, Missouri. The ensemble and supporting cast features America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Sakura and Marking McKinney.

The solar day afterward the start flavor finale had aired, Superstore was renewed for a 2nd season on NBC.[1] The second season will comprise 13 episodes, but on September 21, 2016, the twenty-four hour period before the second flavour premiere, NBC ordered 9 additional scripts, possibly making the episode-count up to 22 episodes.[26] NBC appear on May 15, 2016, that the evidence had been moved, and would exist ambulation on Thursdays in the fourth dimension slot 8 p.m. The show will exist leading off NBC's Thursday nighttime primetime programming in the 2016–17 season.[ii] It was announced the same twenty-four hour period that the second season would begin airing on September 22, 2016.[2] On August three, 2016, it was announced that Michael Bunin would be playing a recurring function in the second season as Jeff, Cloud ix's district manager.[27] A trailer for the new season was released on September eight, 2016.[28] A promotional poster was released on August 5, 2016.[29] On September 23, 2016, NBC gave the series a total season social club of 22 episodes.[3]

Olympics-themed episode [edit]

To promote the 2nd season, NBC announced on May 15, 2016, that information technology would be airing a special Olympics-themed episode of Superstore during the network'south coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.[30] On June 30, 2016, information technology was announced that the episode would exist ambulation on August xix, 2016, in one of the last days in the Olympics.[31] Executive producer Justin Spitzer revealed in an interview during NBC's TCA Press Tour that the plot in the episode would occur in the middle of the first flavour, non after the first season finale.[32] The episode included guest appearances from real-life Olympic medalists Tara Lipinski, Apolo Ohno and McKayla Maroney, in improver to Cecily Strong who played the fictional Olympic medalist Missy Jones. The episode received a serial high of ix.67 1000000 full viewers, up 34 percent from the previous high of 7.21 meg, which was achieved in the series premiere. The special episode too achieved a 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a full point up from the premiere episode's 2.0.[five] [33]
